Course Description:
This 1 credit class is designed as a continuation of the Basic Electronics class. This is a directed studies class, in which students will apply their previous electronics knowlege to projects of their own design. A grade of 70% or greater in the Basic Electronics class is required to register for this class.
Course Goals:
To prepare students with the skills and proficiency needed for an entry-level position as an Electronics Technician. More advanced troubleshooting and design skills will be implemented to give the students real-world experience. The following areas of study will be included:
- Safe work practices.
- Building circuit boards.
- Using function generators, frequency counters and oscilloscopes.
- Using transducers and diodes.
- Learn to program microcontrollers.
- Circuit design using various CAD packages
- General application of electronic theory to real world needs
- Troubleshoot passive DC circuits.
- To have fun while learning!
Course Directives:
This is where the real “meat and potatoes” end up on the plate. Students use a combination of computer aided instruction and hands-on training with consumer electronics products to gain viable skills necessary for smooth integration into the field of high technology.
